Passenger side tail light (940 wagon)tail light works , no brake light ! Driver side is good I have replaced the bulb , no joy. Need the hands of a 10 year old girl to get at this ! Can any of you guys give me a clue? How about a wiring diagram , one wire (brown/white) not attached. This is working on my last nerve ! HELP !!

Take off the whole assembly: three 10mm nuts, use a longish extension--the back should be marked as far as the wire colors and their place.

Even correctly placed those things act up a lot, one can go crazy trying to figure out why a socket won't work right. One of my wagons, '92 740, drives me nuts so I'll replace the whole light to eliminate a constant brake light failure.

I have found that a good cleaning of contact points and some dialectic grease go a long ways (after fixing the wire of course) towards proper functionality.

I've been having issues also with my 940 wagon and ended up pulling each socket out and bending the contacts out a little more so I know for sure they will make contact and that's solved the problem on 3 of the 4 light problems back there. And yeah a 10mm ratchet wrench with the pivoting head worked great in there, although skinny fingers are still a must. If you have a test light, get someone to help push the pedal or jam a stick between the seat and pedal and check to make sure the contacts on the lamp assembly are even getting power.
