Default headlight relay ? 84 245

I just started driving my 84 wagon and found that I had no headlights. The high low beam relay was bad so I pulled one from my parts car .Now the high and low flash when you try to turn on highs but don't stay on,and still no headlights. I've all the relays I could find but all were connected to engine .

probably your headlight switch.

lets see... on a 1984 240, the power goes from the positive terminal (black square thing on left fender well under hood) to the headlgight switch pin 30 via a red wire. yellow wire from switch pin 55(? its fuzzy. might be 56) to step relay pin 55(?) provides the power to the headlights. when you temp pull the dimmer switch, it bypasses the headlight switch.
