Default Heated oxygen sensor warning light

Hello, could anyone advise me please? Garage replaced the exhaust downpipe 3 weeks ago ( the heated oxygen sensor (Lambda) went back on the pipe in working order). I was not happy with their work, as the exhaust is leaking at the manifold, and is noisy. Picked the car up after the repair, only to find the heated oxygen sensor (Lambda) warning light is lit up. The garage spent 1 1/2 hours, but were unable to get a diagnostic code reading on their equipment??? What other reason would cause this light to come on? (it's a Euro spec car so the emissions control May not be the same as US spec) Thanks, Alice

If the shop didn't tighten the exhaust manifold properly, who knows if they installed the oxygen sensor correctly.

I would start by fixing the exhaust manifold leak. This could be the cause of the error code since a leak in the exhaust upstream of the oxygen sensor could allow excess oxygen in the exhaust stream. The oxygen sensor will try to compensate by enriching the mixture.

Fix the leak first. Then see if the code is still there.

Good luck.

Default Oxygen sensor Volvo 940 lpt estate

Hello, Thanks for your reply. Garage repaired the exhaust. Managed to get the light on the dashboard to go out. Found the fault to be dodgy wiring. The wire in question is red, and has a 35 amp fuse between the battery and wherever it goes. The connecter was loose, and when I tightened it up, the lambda warning light went off. The trouble is, why has the previous owner put this fuse in the circuit? There are a number of bodged connectors, some of which maybe for the 2 towhitch. Thanks, Alice
