Default Heater shuts off after full blast?

Just got a 89 240 wagon, and I’m starting to dig into all her quirks.

Went to turn up the heat, only to have the fan turn all the way up as expected. Then after a minute or two, dying completely. No heat. Also should mention that even when the heat is off there is a low grade amount coming from the vents.

AC does not work.

any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Fuse? it's the only blue 25 amp fuse (of should be) in the fusebox.

Switches never go bad, you could pull the center console back and test with your $5 test light if power is going to the motor. It's a many hour job the first time you replace a motor and involves taking a whole bunch of stuff apart - if you are not mechanically inclined you may not get it back together.
