Help with 240
I just purchased a 240 a couple of days ago and I'm starting to notice a weird winding sound when I let off the gas pedal. The guy I bought it from said it could be a bearing in the rear end. Any advice on what it could be?
You're welcome. Most of us don't really know what you mean by "weird winding sound", so that might explain why you didn't get more responses.
The rule of thumb with rear end sounds is that if you get a whine that increases with speed but goes away entirely if you let off the gas, it's probably gear noise. If you get the noise all the time, whether under power or coasting, it's most likely bearing noise.

Thanks for the reply. I wasn't really sure how to explain the sound. As I said it only really happens while coasting and it seems to not happen when I reach speeds of 40 mph or more. I'm going to take it to a shop and let them look at it. Hopefully it is a bearing and nothing else.
