OK just picked up a 92 940GL I am tearing it down to do the following. Headgasket (also replace all gaskets from head up) water pump, Thermostat, timing belt/tensioner.

should I look out for anything? I am handy with the tools and not to proud to ask for help. I have never owned a volvo.

Also did these come with just a electric cooling fan? I am use to American V-8's with Fan on Water pump. this one doesn't have one and the bolts/pully don't look like there was ever a fan mounted to it.

check the timing belt tension bearing for smoothness. If if feels rough replace it when doing the timing belt.
