407K miles still going strong
My 1993 940 turbo is hands down the best car I’ve ever owned. I bought it for $600 off a guy who sold it for money towards a Honda LOL!!!!! I have since racked up 132K miles without any major repairs. It’s not a pretty car by any means but gets me anywhere i want to go. It has taken us to Key West, Ft Myers, St Louis, Chicago, Detroit, Myrtle Beach, Austin, and many points in between. Currently working on a 92 740 turbo wagon for my girlfriend to drive daily. We will never own anything other than these cars. Hands down best engineered and toughest cars ever made. I’ll update when I hit 500K!!!!!

Re: Irv Gordon & his P1800...
I was dumbfounded upon discovering this phenomenon and had to do deeper research. Friends, those drive trains were a phenom! As a brief example the crank had (not 2) but 5 main bearings! Using a little imagination it's not hard to understand - these cars were build as heirlooms.
I drove for YRC back when they were going through their now-famous money problems and chose to for-go their policy of rebuilding the engines at 1million. Yes, with routine maintenance their D13's & D15's were routinely passing the 2 & 3 mil marks. I know the diff yet how long would one run? Curious to find out the diesel record but expect V to own it.

The Volvo diesel used in some 240's was a VW engine extended to 6 cylinders, and basically pretty awful. Sweden is too far north for diesel to be very practical. I'm not sure I've seen ANY surviving 240 diesels around here, and I live in Volvo-land where there's still 100s of 240s, 740s, 940s running around daily.
