Default How to get more power in my 740

Hello everyone, I am new to this forum and have a question I hope someone can answer....

I have a 740GL ´92 with just a little over 70.000 miles on the meter.....It has an 2.0 engine, with an 4 speed automatic. What is the easiest way to get more power into this car? Is there any other engine (maybe a V8 even) which would fit directly into it more or less? Or maybe even an engine which would fit to the original transmission?

Basically what I am looking for is ALOT more power without burning a hole in my wallet. The car I have is in mint condition and would be an xtreme sleeper.

Any pointers are apreciated

Take care all..and keep riding safe in your Volvo´s

It would take a lot of money to do a V8 swap. Sell you GL and buy a 740turbo, and build it up.Like big turbo and big injectors, MS,FMIC,P&P custom exhaust and intakemanifolds, forged Rods/pistons,Sodium filled SSvalves, IPD turbo or K cam, Ported head, Big exhaust,ect... You could hit 400+ whp.Look over on turbobricks for some really crazy builds. But it wont be cheap either.

basicly what he said, build your self a motor, take your time, do what you want and a little at a time. thats what i did, i started with the v6 outta the 260 pulled all the CIS injection crap outta it and built a manifold for it, now im running stand-alone fuel management, DI, all the fancy things that im not sharing with anyone haha and im pulls 570whp and 610 Ft. tq. givin its been about 4 years in the making but it shure makes a little 240 move.

swap in a complete b230FTi from a 91+ car. I seen one selling for 900 with 130 on the clock the other day. Sell the spare parts. Buy a TD04-15g turbo, manual boost adjuster, hit up a local shop and get a 3" down pipe and exhaust. Throw a cam in and you can probably see realistically 250bhp.

You will have to rotate the compressor housing to work with the stock IC location, unless you do a custom FMIC.
There is a guy on turbobricks that is selling a few 15g's for$450which have been clocked to work in the stock location.
