How to move my seats back?
I just got my driver's license about two months ago, and I bought myself a 1991 Volvo 240 about a week ago for $1200. I love the thing, but it's really awkward to get in and out of the car. I'm about 6' and 300 pounds, so I need all the room I can get. I'm OK vertically, but I need to move the seat back. I heard that there's a way to remove the seats and install them elsewhere, but, of course, whoever or wherever I heard it from neglected to explain how. If anyone has any ideas, I'd really appreciate if you'd throw them my way.
the seat on our 240 went way far back. are you sure the tracks aren't jamming before it goes all the way back?
also, the GL versions, at least, you could raise/lower the front adn back of the seats with levers under them. a little awkward to reach.
if you really need the seat farther back, you'll need to get a sturdy metal plate the width of the current rails, and longer than current bolt pattern, drill a total of 8 holes in this, 4 for the bolts to the floor, and 4 for bolts from the seat, back say 3" or something from the first 4. you can mill out a good part of the middle of this plate for weight, if its sturdy enough metal. I'd use like 1/4" steel plate, I think, its going to need to support your weight. this will, of course, cut into the rear seat foot room by quite a lot.

Im a big guy. 255 but Im short 5'8". When I got my car I kept thinking the seat needs to go back. But I decided to buy a smaller steering wheel. Made a big difference, It frees up a lot of room. I bought a MOMO steering adapter off amazon and a cheap small steering wheel.
