Hey all,
Can anyone guide me to the location of the radio antenna on a 1994 940 wagon. I installed a new radio as the stock radio was missing and the antenna plug is present but for the life of me I cannot find the mast. All I get is one local station. All I can see externally is a plastic black plug (square) on the left rear pillar.

Any direction is appreciated.

1993 half year change, and 1994s and newer 940 have the antenna imbedded in the left rear side window. No mast, the plug is there where the mast used to be mounted.

 

if you open the left side interior panel in the back, you'll see the antenna connections and a small amplifier module. make sure you hook up the green-grey antenna control wire to the radio's antenna control signal (usually blue on aftermarket radios).

 

Thank you so much. That is my issue then as I didnt hook up any antenna wires other then the normal plug.

 

how well does that work for Dx FM reception versus the whip?

 

About the same. I have both, and have previously replaced a mast with a window imbedded one with no discernible difference.

On my '92 745, with a Sony radio, I have a mast I hardly ever need to power up to get good reception. On my '92 944, with the stock radio, without the mast up I can hardly get a station.
