Ignition Key Won’t Turn
Volvo 1986 245 ignition key won’t turn when in the off position and the steering wheel is unlocked. When it is tried and tried -turning it sometimes does catch and it will turn . If the key is left/kept in a 12 o clock position it will turn and start.
Any suggestions on how to deal with this issue? Can just the cylinder be replaced ? Will the key eventually not turn from the 12 o clock position? Is it a big job to replace/fix? Is it time to say goodbye? Any ideas, suggestions , all appreciated. Ty

The tumbler can't be replaced by itself. If the steering column is unlocked - you can simply remove the ignition switch from the steering column lock and use a screwdriver (in the ignition switch) to turn on and start the car. If the column is locked and the key won't turn - you will have to remove the steering column lock from the column. Check this post for a couple of photos.
