Default Installing a new head unit ('93 940)

Hi guys.

I don't consider myself a gearhead by any means, but I think I am competent enough to install a new head unit by myself.

I am, however, having trouble figuring out exactly how to go about it on a '93 940. Some places would have you believe that there is a wire harness that will work for this model, but I've read and heard from other places that I'll just have to solder the connections in. Is anyone here able to give me a definite answer?

Also, I am pretty sure I'll have to bypass the stock amp. Correct? Any suggestions?

Thanks for any help!

if there is an adapter out there, then why not just do that.

It is fairly simple job. YOu look at the maual match the colored wires and find a way to connect them. then enjoy the new unit.

I agree... I have installed a number of new head units in my past cars, and sometimes its as easy as using a harness. If you have to solder the wires yourself, just make sure you follow the color coding and you will be good to go!

Thanks for the responses.

I'm just having a whale of a time finding a wire harness that actually fits around my locale. I may have to go with Crutchfield, although I'm not convinced that what they have will work either. I guess it's worth a shot though.

Any luck finding a harness? I`ll be doing this on my `91 940 soon.

crutchfield.com is your friend. Still haven't installed the unit yet as I just haven't had enough time to dedicate to the project. The hardest part is going to be the wiring/bypassing the stock amp that's under the steering column, but it shouldn't be too tough of a task.
