Installing rear door speakers
240 wagon- I'd like to add a couple of rear speakers- Do folks typically put them in the doors? Doesnt really look like much room unless I start cutting metal. The rear sides (back in the hatchback) dont look a whole lot better. Any suggestions? Dave
I kinda have the same question, but want to know if there are already "holes" in the rear doors for speakers, as in the front doors? It's an '88 240 Wagon. I hate to break a few door panel clips just to take a peek in there...
I had a car audio place check out my girlfriends wagon to put rear speakers in, and they said it could be done, just not in my girlfriends car cause the doors were too rusty and the wires were shorting out lol.

I have seen wagons with an small enclosed speaker box mounted to the rear seat belt post in the rear cargo area. I do not know who makes speakers like that any more. What are you doing for a radio? My original Volvo radio is not working. I need to put something in its place!!!
There should be room to mount speakers in the rear doors in an '88. I used to have an '89 that did not have any rear speakers. That car got wrecked and I transferred both rear doors of the '89 onto a '91. I transferred the '91 door panels onto the old doors because they had the speakers. The panels fit fine - no cutting of metal.
