Default instruments lights

My '89 240 wagon hasn't had lights working instrument lights since it was given to me. All the warning lights work, they light on startup, but it's just the instruments. The fuses on the panel are all good. The last mechanic that looked at it said it was a problem with the printed board. is this as simple as swapping it out from a donor car? if so where is that board located?

It is located on the back of the speedo cluster. It might be easier to just swap out the entire assembly.
Watch very close when you take the wiring off and make sure it all goes back in the proper place.

thanks, that's probably a blessing in disguise, because i've been wanting to install a tach in place of the standard clock.
