IPD 740 SPORT EXHAUST SYSTEM
LOOKIN TO REPLACE OLD STOCK SYSTEM. I AM THINKING ABOUT THE IPD SPORT EXHUAST SYSTEM, ANYONE HAVE ANY TAKES ON THIS, IS IT WORTH THE EXTRA CASH, COMPLETE STOCK SYSTEM FROM FCPGROTON.COM IS $155, IPD IS $295 FOR THE SPORT SYSTEM. IS THERE A NOTICABLE DIFFERENCE.
In my opinion, low cost in exhaust systems is not always the best way to go. First is the fit, how well the system goes together, are the bends where they should be, does the pipe line up with the hangers and does the ends that are to fit
together fit together ...second is the type of bends the manufactures bending equipment makes and third the material used. Are both systems made of stainless tubing, without reading the discription of both products, it's purely a guess that the lower cost system is not. I believe the IPD version is 2.5", at least for the turbo cars, and I believe it will go together as Volvo designed it. Just an opinion.
And I guess, depending on where you live, something else to consider is a custom made system. It would cost the most, but it could be done in stainless and all bends and connections are custom made. This is my choice.... Now what muffler do you use?

ditto on what Wedwagon is preaching. Lower cost "performance" parts are generally glorified OEM replacments made out of shinnier material.....racoons like shinny things....i'm not quite sure how that applies but I'm sure there's a parallel.
but in your case it sounds like what you're contimplating is stock vs. performance. The theory of any auto "breathing" system...i.e. intake, intake manifold, throtle body, cam shaft/valves, exhaust manifold, cat back and mufler, is that they're only as good as the weakest link. If you replace the exhaust you probably won't see the HP gains that are advertised on the packaging until you finish the system. Berring that in mind....is the IPD system for you? Depends on if you're going to finish the whole thing.

Plan on putting in a K&N dropin filter, modifing the front snorkle(drill a couple rows of holes in the front side of snorkle), heard of a guy who did this and said it made a slight difference. Also in the future might be looking into either canadian spec cam or aftermarket one. And if motor blows plan on b230ft transplant, but that should be a ways off, only have 188k and she purrs. Auto trannie went out and replaced it with a 940 wagon trannie, it seems geared alittle diferent. Is this because it was from a wagon.
