LED bulbs for 1992 cluster
Hi,
I have a 1986 Volvo 240DL but swapped out the cluster a couple years back with one from a 1992. So essentially this would be a 1992 Volvo 240 question then...
The cluster bulbs are the ones in the containers that the bulbs can't be removed from and I'm trying to upgrade to LEDs.
These are the existing clusters bulbs/containers: cluster bulbs/containers
I was able to crush the bulbs and remove them from the containers but am having difficulty finding the correct LED's to attempt to solder in there. Any ideas?
Tx!

You can't just solder LEDs into what you call the "container" and expect it to work. LEDs require a current limiting resistor to operate properly. Even if you added both the resistor and LED to the "container", your instrument cluster illumination would no longer be dimmable.
Why not just put new incandescents?

Gotcha about the container and the LEDs, I didn't realize that. I was able to upgrade the rest of the bulbs in the interior of my car with LEDs and they're much brighter than the originals.
So I guess my cluster bulbs will remain incandescent like the ones in the link I provided in my original post from IPDUSA unless there's a better replacement you can recommend?
Tx.
