Default locking a 240

I just bought a 1990 240 in awsome condition. The only problem at the moment is I can't figure out how to lock it. It has power locks and they all make noise like they are locking but the doors don't lock. When i had my Nissan 280Z there was a trick to it. You had to hit the lock button the hold ip the outer door handle while you shut the door. I tried that but it didn't work. Is there another trick or is there perhaps something wrong with it.
Thanks in advance.

In order to lock the driver's door you have to close it and use the key. The door lock system has sort of a saftey feature to prevent you from locking the keys in the car.

Yeah, that was the first thing I tried when just hitting the power lock inside and closing the door didn't seem to work. It didn't seem to work though. Thats when I posted this. After I went outside this morning and messed around with it a bit, locking it with the key did work. I then couldn't unlock it. Seems to be working ok now though. Maybe it just needs a little oil or something.

Yeah, a little lock oil never hurt.
