95' 850 GLT Wagon (non-turbo)

1. Central Locking: Front 4 door locks work fine. Problem is with the 5th door lock. When using the key in the front doors the 5th door lock does not operate. When using the key with the 5th door all the doors lock and unlock just the way they are supposed to. I need advice on what to look for as a problem, dealer wants to change the lock in the 5th door and charge about $250. I am very handy man and so need advice. I am ready to buy a new lock and replace it as advised by you earlier.

2. Key Fob: It unlocks all the doors but does not lock them. Battery is new and distance does not matter. Doors will not lock irrespective of the distance.

Advice on both the points above will help. What should I try for point 2 the key fob.

 

Yes you should replace the 5th door lock assy.When you use the key you are locking the lock manually.So I would say yes the lock is bad.When you go to the dealership to get the lock see if they have a remote tester.Most dealerships have one.They just turn this little box on and set the remote on it and press the buttons on the remote.It beeps when it gets a signal from the remote.See if it gets a signal from the lock button on the remote.If not the remote is bad.That is what I think the problem is.
