Default longevity of v belts

I am curious to know how often should the v belts be changed, mine appear in good shape but have been there for a while now.

i change them when they start to look old, or the contact surfaces start to look glazed.

I change them every time I change the timing belt - which is 50,000 miles. Never had a problem.

I change them when they are cracked halfway through.
