At the end of last year I went through a life changing event. The owner of our 89 740GL who was my bride passed away. She had told me I should have the car crushed but I just couldn't do it yet. We had 379K miles on it and I knew shew wanted to hit 500K. So now I'm at 382K and am driving it as much as possible with the goal of hitting 400K by sometime next year. This will be tough as I am expecting my new car in the early fall. Buy I will push it as much as I can. Once I hit 400K the next decision will be do I scrap it or do I find some loyal diehard who is willing to pick up the torch and run it to 500K. This all assumes it will make it but we will have to see.
Sorry for your loss.
If it was at all possible I would for sure pick up the torch on the journey to 500k.
That being said... I'd put on CL before selling it to the scrap yard. I recently sold a 240 that was rusted out but ran for little more than scrap. I sold it to a guy on CL asking for 240's.
Looks like a nice well maintained Volvo!
If you must get rid of it I'd try and find someone who'd take it over and care for it the way you and your wife did.
I am sentimental when it comes to cars, and some other things. This car considering all, I'd never part with, but that's me...
I have a '92 745 I've had since 2006 and this is the longest I've ever had a car plus I've done a ton of things to it, so it's really hard for me to pull the trigger even though I have no use for it...
