I've seen pics of them in volvos, but can't tell you anything about the mod itself...
one for sale local to me: 1991 Volvo 940 with LS1 and T56

i was considering a v8 swap in my volvo also but i was told to use a later ford 5.0 i think im going to use an older 350 thats already carborated since there are legitamently like 14 wires to the whole motor and no computer i would recomend the same for you it will be the easiest most straight forward swap

An LS block transplant would be no different then the other V8 conversions. How many have you done? Providing you have mechanical skills it should not be a problem. Good luck

I've been looking around and doing some research as well for this swap. i don't know what your goals are but I'm currently debating the 5.3 chevy vortec out of the 99-04 chev trucks. they're cheap and they're basically an ls motor. if you go to 594HP 5.3L Gen III Small Block for $3,252 - Hot Rod Magazine they build a boosted 5.3 with all the parts prices and part numbers! if i do this I'm gunna pretty much do this minus all the turbo stuff. i'm thinking maybe 350 hp... lol we'll see anyways hope this helps!

Once you do a conversion you understand the magnitude of the job. It's not just a matter of throwing a motor in and driving away. Here's an exercise for you try to sit down and generate a list of what you need to do to put that 5.3 in your car. Let us know what you come up with. Take a look at swifts ford conversion. He only shows the tip of the iceberg. Good luck

oh I know what it takes to put a motor in a car that was never supposed to be there. custom motor and tranny mounts, custom drive shaft, custom headers and exhaust, custom wiring harness just to come up with a few. I'm not entirely sure what has to be or what needs to be done just because I have just started looking into this swap. I weld and fit for a living and when times get tough I know how to reach up and give the old noodle a scratch and go hmmmm lol and by no means do i think this is an easy swap.

Guys...you may notice I cleaned this thread up a bit. Normally, when there is this much e-chest beating I simply delete the entire thing. An LS thread is always a good thing so I'll keep it open for a bit. Keep it civil or the entire thing will disappear in a puff of e smoke.

Thanks swift , I have no problem trying to help anyone who is serious in improving their rides. As we all know the internet is a great source of information and a little homework will provide you with reams of info. As you know conversions vs diagnostic issues are 2 different cans of worms. I'll gladly share my experiences with anyone interested in resolving their problems. What I don't know I'll tell them. Thanks
