my 92 740 Turbo Wagon...
sorry, I just have to. I know this picture is too big, and will blow out the margins of this thread.
Its not even that fresh of a picture, I was looking at this album from a year and a half ago when I got my new ride....
and damn it, I like these big RWD boxes better than anything newer.

I bought this car for $1200 january last year with a very clean body and generally well maintained under-the-hood, but some known issues. before these pictures were taken, I acquired 4 straight Hydra 16" wheels and put new tires on them, and offed the old Aries 15" wheels (the two straight ones were sold cheaply on craigslist to a young guy who needed exactly that, and the two bent ones went to the metal recyclers).
since these pictures were taken, I've ....
- fixed the weak head gasket (known problem when car was bought)
- completely upgraded/renewed the suspension with a mix of Volvo rubber and SuperPro poly bushings, Bilstein tc/touring struts/shocks, rear overload springs, IPD anti-sway bars, ball joints, tie rods, etc.,
- new front brakes.
- good condition front leather seats from a 1998 Volvo S90 (last year RWD)
- JLAudio 6" component speakers in front, and 5.25" coax in back, new Alpine stereo. (sounds aweome)
and as of right now, the car is damn near perfect.

is it not showing up? I edited to replace it with a slightly smaller version, suitable for a screen somewhat under 1600 wide, instead of the first version that was more like 1920 wide.
(update) ah. my photo hosting site, smugmug, unleashed a new version of their gallery options, and somehow left the 'external linking allowed' option off. should be all fixed now.

Hey Pierce, Nice car. I know this is an old thread but how have those Bilstein tourings been holding up? Do the rears rattle? I am a new member here(first post ever) with a '91 945T, so it's basically its the same car with minor differences inside and out. I picked up some Bilstein tourings and rear overloads for my car and haven't had a chance to put them on yet. I also have the front rubber bushing kit from IPD and some other suspension things that need fixing (ball joint, etc..) I just wondered if how your car rides now with the sways and shocks? Hopefully you will see this.

its doing fine. car is a little stiffer riding around our rough bumpy roads than I'd like when I'm in comfort mode, but it sure does handle the narrow twisty mountain roads well at escalated speeds.
no rattles, other than the tailgate inside panel and maybe my gear stowed under the rear deck.
I think if I was doing it again, I probably would skip the poly bushings, and IPD swaybars, I find it a bit too harsh for every day driving. OTOH, we put bilstein 'comfort' shocks on my wife's 1994 E320 mercedes wagon (W124 chassis), and its excellent, not at all harsh.
I think I'd as soon have stock rear springs for those 90% times I'm /not/ carrying a half ton, but when I am, the overload springs are nice. some sort of air spring boosters would be great, but the air-spring people told me they make nothing that would fit in the 740/940 coil springs, when I gave them the dimensions.

yeah, white with beige leather (long since covered with a set of IPD seat covers in beige velour fabric).
yes, all Volvo's came with an engine pan. its not so much a skid pan as it helps with the airflow, creating suction behind the radiator, and keeps road muck out of the front of the engine.
this one used to have a 'spoiler' under the bumper, I never did put it back on after some body work.
