Hey guys my name's Gabe and in one week I will be the proud new owner of a yellow '79 244 DL. I'm just wondering if there's anything I can do to the car to make it a bit funner to drive. Not looking to roast the tires or anything, but I'm just curious if this car has any potential to put out above 111 horsepower/136 lb. ft. of torque, or maybe take the corners a bit quicker? There doesn't seem to be much info that I've found in my non-comprehensive searches. Thanks for anything.

I know what you mean Gabe. I recently purchased an '85 240 DL and I mean I like it and stuff. But it is fairly gutless[:'(] I would love any quick tips on easy *CHEAP* power increases

i got a Lt1 in one of my 79 244s, and my other one i am doin a custom CAI, and iv had IPDs non turbo performance exhaust sitting in my basement for a few years so i think ill use it now, and i might get a cam. but not sure.. o yea i also have a ported throttle body that i did when my V8 244 was still a 4banger so i am putting that on the new 79 244 as soon as i get my brake issue resolved

 

If all else fails do something like this in the picture.
It is a custom intake with a 70mm mustang throttle body.

looks like a honda intake manifold.. but its nice

 

Kind of but was custom make for the Volvo.
He had that car setup good It also had nitrous and ran a 13.50 in the 1/4 mile
He wasn't happy with it though after he had a 740 sedan that ran in the 12's.
He yanked that engine and is building a beefed up 350 to drop in.
