Default Need help with the hard line going from the EGR Valve to the exhaust manifold!

Hey All,

There is a hard line that runs from the EGR Valve to the rear of the exhaust manifold on my 92 volvo 240, B230F. I was able to get it tight on the exhaust manifold side but for some reason the end that goes on the tail end of the EGR valve wont catch the threads. I will need to get a new one because this one is old and rusted and I believe the threads on the large nut have worn off, that is why it wont catch. I am unable to find it online or even what its directly called. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Also! There is a lot of air being pushed through this hard line and it sputters really loud when I accelerate, obviously because its disconnected. But could this be harmful to how my car runs and what not?

Thanks!

A junkyard is the best place to get that pipe cheap. And it's not healthy for the car over the long run...

Alright, sounds good. I was really trying to avoid the junkyard because that line always rusts over time and is really tough to get off. The only way i got it off was because I took my engine apart and had clear access to it. I will see what I can do though. Thanks!

You are right, they are a pain to get off. Find a car that hopefully has not been in the rust belt or forget it... Not available new? Shouldn't be too much...

even here in central california, where cars don't hardly rust at all, those EGR pipes are rusty as heck.

the EGR pipe (thats what its called) is part number 1357029, $65 at a dealer, $55 here, Pipe. Volvo 940 2.3l Fuel Injected (1992 - 1994) # 1357029 or $48 at Volvo Parts - TascaParts.com

I'd order new ferrules and the clamp nuts, too. maybe even the nipples at both ends, depends on how cleanly your old one came off.

here's the full parts breakdown...
