Default Need Help Identifying Plug (Start and Stall)

I am having a problem where the engine starts and stalls out, any tips?

I found this plug unplugged near this connector, please help identify what this plug is and where it goes. Could it have anything to do with my problem?

Nothing to do with your problem.

I agree with Lev - nothing to do with your problem. I have read somewhere on the forum here (or maybe brickboard) that there is a connector on the firewall somewhere that the service tech can connect a quick start button so he can crank the engine while working in the engine bay. Not sure but that may be what that connector is for. Others on the forum may be able to chime in.

You'll find throughout your car there are many connectors with nothing connected. Most of them are for options - like headlight wipers and so on.

Regarding the start-stall, if the car has been sitting for over an hour without running and you try to start it, it will stall about 4 seconds after you start it. It will do this for about three attempts but on the fourth it usually catches, it will idle fine but occasionally dip way down in rpm and rattle around, but it can usually recover. It goes up through the gears fine and runs decent when warm. It’s not a vacuum leak or a bad MAF. Anything else to try? (1990 240 dl automatic transmission)

Same thing, as long as it’s not warm it can’t start smooth without stalling

could be the cold start injector isn't working. could be the coolant temp sensor, but also could be lots of other things.

I'd look at the coolant temp. sensor first, it's most likely your problem...
