Default Need a new Auto Shifter Console

Hi Everyone! Just helped my son buy his first car--an '89 240 with 89,000 miles on it. Great car so far!!! The shifter console (I don't know Volvo's exact name for it which may be my big problem in trying to find it) has been broken by the previous owner and we're looking to buy a new one but can't seem to find one anywhere...

First, does anyone know Volvo's correct name for this (the plastic rectangular box with the gear guides on it) that sits on the floor in front of the emergency brake?

Second, can someone point me to a source that I may be able to buy one from?

Thanks so much!

Your best bet would be a junkyard. Maybe eBay. I got an e-brake console from eBay and I'm happy with it.

I don't know what to call it either other than a shifter console. I agree that a junkyard is your best bet to get a new one. You should be able to pick it up cheap (Probably like 5 dollars). But i'm not sure how in the hell to get it off. I've tried to take mine off to get easier access to spme of the wores down there and i have no clue how to get it off without destroying the shifter. Other people have posted that same problem in the forum before so if you can figure out how to get it off please let us know.
