New alternator belt help.
Well my job has noɪ work so noɪ money but while im off i need to fix the car my lternator belt is very loose i tried to tighten it and it just looks like belt is ripping so my question is How do you put it on when other belt needs to come off its a 91 940 turbo. another question i need to replace fuel filter but the bolt will Not come off the one end so i need to go to junk yard for new one What other year and model volvo uses same fuel filter.
on the fuel filter itself is a hex on one side, get the right size wrench for that and the banjo bolt in your fuel filter. cause you will have the same problem at the junk yard... and as to your first question, take the other belts off first if there in your way...
The belt is RIPPING? Sounds like you are overtightening it-regardless of how old a belt is I can't imagine it ripping... Belt should have about an inch of "give" when you push on it in the middle between two pulleys. Being too tight can cause more damage than being too loose. To remove that belt you have to remove other belts that are in the way.
As far as what other Volvos use that same filter, pretty much all 240, 740, 940, oh, since 1986 on, I'd say, may be even earlier but stay in the '90s to be safe.

As far as the bolt for the fuel filter, they can be a royal pain. The filter itself has a hex shape where you can put a wrench on it. Then you use another wrench on the bolt. PB Blaster can help as well. Use a breaker bar if you have to.
