New member, wagon needs help
Hi Forum
I have a 93 240 wagon with around 145k on it. It's a very useful vehicle and quite dependable however it hasn't been maintained very well. It's actually my girlfriend's. We both have other vehicles of course. As stated it's useful and faithful, and recently I have been thinking about how much utility it provides and that perhaps it should finally get the respect it needs to continue providing that utility. I have been changing the oil, & recently I put in a radiator & wp and have been changing the belts & brake pads, but it needs more than that to be anything but miserable to drive. The car sounds like it's going to come apart driving around DC with all the potholes & poor street surfacing. I did have to put a new blower motor into it last spring. Also it looks like it got into a fight with a cement mixer and lost. Truly an ugly car. Paint's gone. Yet a valuable utility vehicle.
I need to keep this one going and will need to replace shocks & struts. Bushings as well. Probably ball joints up front & whatever else. I need to know what kind of special tools I'm going to need for this, I have done some research and have found I will need to disconnect corroded brake lines, etc. To tell the truth I don't pay much attention to the car but will need to change that. Car's too useful. I'm getting a little disconcerted by the chassis noises, banging over poor road surfaces & pirate ship creaks so I'm thinking I can't wait any longer here.
Basically I'm seeking any pointers or deals on good parts or any links to DIYs before I begin planning this out. Appreciate any information. Thanks
