Odd clip atop electronic speedometer wire on back of gauge cluster
Howdy!
I just recently tried to take out my gauge cluster out of my '91 240 wagon to have a look into both my temp gauge (I think the compensator/ faker board has gone bad), as well as check to make sure the odo is broken at the typical gear. However, after getting all the other wires out, I couldn't manage to get the speedometer wire out, as there was a clip atop the connector that had no discernible way to remove it. From all the guides around (including the Bentley blue book) there seems to not be any mention of it. There was only 1 video I could find where the guy showed it on there, but it didn't seem to impede him getting the cluster out. From what I'd guess, its the analogous of the anti-tamper measures found on the mechanically driven model, but I don't want to assume that and just break it.
The picture of it is attached. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Also this my first time posting, so if there's anything I did wrong in the post just lmk.
Those "anti tamper clips" were installed for some reason - just pull it off. The speedo connector will work just fine without it when you reconnect the speedo wires without it. .
