Default Off Topic/ Mercury Cougar 93'

Ok guys, i know this is a little off topic but my friend owns a 1993 mercury Courar 3.8 v6. And the thermostat blew and he drove it for 3 days with the blown thermostat (dont know how he did it) and now for lack of better words, it's F*cked. We Think he may have blown the head gasket and with both of our heads we think we can replace it. I was just wondering if that is logical thinking, tehrmostat goes, then head gasket? Any help?

Once again thanks and this will by my only post about a car other than VOLVOS haha.

Did it overheat bad?

There is a kit you can buy to put a peice in the raidiator with fluid to check and see if the head gasket is blown.

Let us know what happens.

If it didn't overheat really bad a new thermostat might just fix it.

But if he overheated it really bad then install the new gaskets!!!!!

Remove all the plugs and crank it over and see if you have a geyser!!!

Then that would mean coolant in the cylinders.
