Default oil coming from oil filler cap

I have oil leaking onto my valve cover from my oil filler cap. This sucks. Should I just replace the cap or go crazy and consider the PCV valve or equivalent as well. Oder etwas? (Or something else?)

Also, are there any other websites better than fcpgroton for parts?

Vielen Dank! (many thanks!)

I love to whip my volvo.

What do you mean by BETTER?

I think that car has a flame trap that needs to be replaced or cleaned. Also, you can replace the rubber gasket that is on the oil filler cap.

Default flame arrester

the flame arrester is located where? right before the intake?

also, i like fcpgroton's prices and service but didn't know what other good options existed.

The flame trap is located between intake runners 3 and 4 (between the rear most 2)

It has 3 hoses attached to it. can be hard to get to, but its not that bad...

FCP is the your best bet really for repair / replacement parts.

I hear tasca volvo is good if you want to go thru a dealer.

BTW i believe that gasket on your oil filler cap is a replace every oil change item. Its cheap enough to be atleast.

Good luck. (good luck)

I tried replacing filler cap gaskets etc to no avail. a new cap fixed my oil leak issue.
Volvo got he design of their rocker cover wrong here, one of the #1 cam lobes sprays the oil filler cap with oil constantly, it should've had a sheetmetal baffle below the filler.
Blowby just forces the oil out, it shouldn't be there in such quantities (design flaw).

Regards, Andrew.

Default ordered parts

I flipped the gasket upside down. Not leaking now. I did order a couple of new ones too though, and valve cover gaskets, rear gate struts and timing belt cover gasket.

So...... I've got some work to do!

why not just go on eBay or a Volvo friendly parts site and buy a new gasket or oil fill cap for starters? Then you can consider testing if your PCV is clogged and pushing oil out through the filler cap. If you are on your original, the rubbers is what - 30 years old?

be sure to get genuine volvo oil caps, the aftermarket ones don't fit at all well.

btw, 10 year old thread resurrected from graveyard.

Make sure your flame trap and oil separator are clear. Clogged flame trap/oil separator are the number one causes of oil leaks.
