Default Oil Leak From Filter?

1991 740 Turbo.

I change my own oil every 2500 miles or sooner and every few oil changes i see that there was not a lot of oil in my car. Today when i drained it i had about 2-3 quarts of oil in it. I always put 5 quarts in. The pan looks good and the only place i see oil really is where the oil filter goes on. Seems like it drips from there. Now i dont overtighten it ever but maybe the oil filter im useing isent exactly right? I have been useing purolator. Maybe its not an exact fit? I know Volvos are picky as hell at times. Maybe i should just switch to a MANN filter? Any ideas? Thanks.

Does your filter screw towards the front of the car?
The oil cooler might be leaking where it bolts to the block.

But does it screw right into the block or into an aluminum housing?

Then the seal between the aluminum housing and the block might be leaking.

Somewhat common.
Pretty easy to replace as well. Hardest part is finding a socket to fit the big bolt.
