Default Oil Trap (Oil separator) suppose to be air tight?

The red lines on the left when i plug the holes and blow into it, air comes from there is it suppose to be air tight?
The reason i bought a new one is because where the circle is on the right that piece of my oil separator is lifted up and oil is leaking from it.

Is the Oil separator suppose to be air tight the middle seal part of my oil separator is open and pulled up a bit but I'm realizing if that is even suppose to be air tight or if it just opened or what? because I got one ordered and the middle seal isnt sealed all the way is it suppose to be completely sealed, and air tight?

the quality of replacement parts on the market now is in the dumpster. take it back to where you got it and find a better parts brand, or supplier. might have to get a dealer part for that, if they are still available. that or seal it up with something suiltable for plastic and hot oil.

It was a pain just to find someone who could get it here before the weekend I'm a try to just seal it, would a high temp jb weld work?

Its probably a better idea to seal it than to try and find another. The JB Weld is stronger than the plastic so it would work fine. Put a smooth smear around the seam. The device doesn't work with much pressure or vacuum so you don't need gobs.

make sure the surface is degreased and roughed up a bit with 400 grit, then wiped clean with alcohol, air dry, THEN jb weld it. actually, I'd probably use a regular 2-part epoxy, it spreads easier, JB Weld is for metal and is kinda thick

JB Weld makes all kinds of glues, epoxies, etc. these days... for all applications, and should work fine for this--it is definitely not "air tight".

I don't blame the manufacturer for the parts quality anymore, I point to the market. You can put two products side by side, one priced a dollar less. The cheaper one will outsell the other regardless of quality.

I hate it when companies do that... so now, if you tell someone they need JB Weld, they will be faced with a confusing array of products and be unsure what exactly you were talking about.
