Default overdrive problem

I have a 1990 740 gl. When I'm driving sometimes the overdrive goes off all on its own and you can not turn it back on until it's ready and sometimes will kick back in on its own. Is there a relay for this? Does anyone know how correct it?

Thanks

Default RE: overdrive problem

Most of the time it is the realy that is bad.It is located in the back of the fuse box.You will have to remove the cubby to get to it.Remove the frame around the cigar lighter and remove the 2 screws and the cubby will come out.Make sure to unplug the cigar lighter and light.Feel the relays and click the button when it works so you can find the relay.
