I want to buy this volvo its a 240 1990.
The guy wants 725$ but it has 250000 miles...
What do you guys think? Because im going to upgrade it and stuff...so idk if its a safe buy..

 

You probably will invest around 300 dollars, given you do the work, to have all common problems that come with 240's. Or you may not have to do a single thing....depends how that guy took care of it....the price is ok to me but without having a picture it is hard to say....I got a 86 wagon with six football holes on the roof and a hole in the cylinder head that was plugged with JB weld......AAAAAHH... I bought the parts at a local junk yard pretty cheap....it is relatively easy to work on 240s....I paid close to 500 dollars.....BUT PLAN ON TANKING CARE OF THE ENGINE/TRANS/MAINTENANCE FIRST THING...you will abandon the project if it starts to fail on you because you bought a turbo first, instead of replacing the fuel filter, oil change, thermostat, plugs and wires, rear differential gear oil, distributor cap, o2 sensor.....etc etc...leave the cosmetics last and the guts first....

I would pay that much if the it was in ok condition....don't worry about the miles too much you will have to invest in it....but it is worth it...these cars are great....can leave them all stock and shiny or swap engines for a 16v, 5 cyl turbo, or v8....etc etc...

 

i just bought one for 995 but it was from a dealer so after tax ect it was closer to 1300
but so far its good i mean there are minor things but its nice and mine has 161k on it so ya
and do as he said that is what i am doing working on the guts and then the cosmetics and i wanna get a turbo in mine eventually as well lol
