Default Preferred T Fluid change method

89 240DL- I read a post months ago about how to do a transmission fluid change up by the radiator. Is that a preferred method of all you Brickheads? My manual says to disconnect a pipe (yikes) and drop the pan. Disconnecting pipes makes me a bit nervous- it dosent leakright now...Anyone? Dave

Dave, If you pull the return line to the trans. you will be able to change all the fluid in the trans. but it is much easier with 2 people since you have to refill as fluid is pumped out. If you pull the drain plug in the trans pan you will change 2.5 quarts. The only way to get the fluid out of the torque converter is with the return line.

My former neighbor Dave Shannon posted the procedure.
