Default transmission drain method

I have read the exchanges regarding drain vs. flush and have decided to use the drain method @ the 3000 mile oil change for each of my Volvos. The 2003 S60 2.4 has 90,000 miles and the 2005 S60 2.4has 60,000 miles. I plan to furnish the Mobil 3309 fluid to the Firestone Service Center. I want to keep this simple for the Firestone folks. I understand you replace theamount drained with new fluid. Does anyone know how many quarts this represents ? Also, both of my autos have this ocassional transmission flare and the local dealership suggested the software upgrade. I will probably do this at some point, but thought Volvo should take care of...since it appears to be a common problem.

Thanks for any advice and insight.

Bob

Default RE: transmission drain method

On a recent drain and fill for my 06 2.5T, I drained about3 1/2quarts, so buy at least 4 Qts. per tranny to be sure you have enough fluid. The Mobil 3309 fluid workedgreatBTW.
