Question pump/cold start/idle/idk problems

Hey all I'm new to the forum, I've got a 1979 242DL that I'm trying to get to love me back.

I thought I was getting a steal with buying her for 3k with only 77k original miles and a gorgeous paint job and interior, but after a couple of days of owning I started having trouble getting her started and keeping her started. Well after taking her to my mechanic and letting her eat through four external pumps and three internal pumps I finally got the internal pump upgrade kit(which helped LOADS) from IPD. Well now, a week after getting her "fixed" I'm back to having to turn her over three or four times to get her to stay started and I've got to play with the throttle for about three or four minutes to get it so that she will stay started on her own. Once I get to that point she idles super rough until I get it up to operating temperature after driving around for 15/20 minutes, but after driving her around for a little while the frame rail pump starts intermittently buzzing. I dont know whether to throw ANOTHER new external pump on her or what, my mechanic has checked everything he can think of and I cant get anyone else to define what the problem is. Any help would be a HUGE relief.
