Rattling from below
Hi all- I'm a newb here, but not a newb to forums so I did do a search first and was unable to come up with anything specific related to my problem.
I'm the proud new owner of a '92 240 GL with 184,000 on the clock, I'm lucky enough to be able to get one from someone who loves these cars as much as I do, as a result it's in beautiful condition overall and has been well-maintained.
Cutting to the chase, There is a rattling sort of sound coming from directly beneath my feet it seems whenever I go over some train tracks or a really lumpy piece of road. I can feel a bit of vibration there too. It's not a hollow metallic clanging like exhaust, it's more of a dull rattle. I'm no expert, but to me it sounds like something solid rattling in place, I suspect it's a suspension component of some kind (?)
Sorry I don't have more information, any ideas as to where I should begin looking? The handling and steering of the car seems to be just fine (by 240 standards I mean)

RE: Rattling from below
speaking of the catalytic converter, lets say there were a high-frequency rattle from under the passenger side, seemingly from the location of where the cat is located below. this rattle comes on at about 60mph+ and when in deep deceleration, or coming down from a high rpm by means of simply letting off the throttle. what would be the best way to check to see if the cat converter surely needed replacment?
