Default Really need 1992 Volvo 240 Fuel Rail. Im gonna explode!!!

Hey people trying this again. There isn't a 240 in sight at a junkyard, a fuel rail on the internet, nothing. Somehow I have an area on my fuel rail that is leaking and spraying fuel. I was told a possible JB Weld might be a temporary fix but some do not recommend it. Its getting worse and any moment I could blow myself and the car up. It runs great, why is a fuel rail so hard to come by?

depending on where its leaking, I wonder if you couldn't solder it? as far as I know, they are all brass, so they should solder fine.

you'd need to take it off the car, remove the injectors and stuff, completely remove all traces of gasoline fumes, wire brush the leaky area til its all shiny inside the crack and out, then liberally brush on flux and flow solder into the crack, using a small torch tip.

note, I've never tried this.

I have a fuel rail off of an '89 you could have. Not sure it will fit though. I was swapping engines in my daughter's '91 240 and I found the '89 high pressure connection was a little farther forward than the '91. So to get it to fit you might have to splice in an extension to the high pressure fuel line.

Where are you located?

fwiw, VADIS (the older Volvo electronic parts catalog) says a 1991+ 240 B230F/FD uses fuel pipe 6842429 which replaced 6842434 and has the 'service socket evacuation valve' (thats the shraeder valve that folks seem to think is for fuel pressure reading).

a 1989-1990 240 B230F/B230FD uses pipe 3536100 which doesn't have said shraeder valve.

I don't know if there are any other differences.

Hey, Volvo claims to still stock this part. $118 at this dealer's webstore...

Thanks everyone and Pierce hit my main concern. There was a 1990 240 at the junkyard recently but the fuel rail didn't match up with mine. Pierce my main concern would be if the part would fit properly. As far as the connections go and whatnot. Looks close though.

I also noticed the only vehicle selection for this part is the 940. But I am assuming they carry the same rail set up as the 240? Thanks.

not all 940's have cold start injectors, later ECU revisions did away with it entirely.

I don't have a 91+ 240 to compare with my 92 940(actually 740, but same difference), anyways mine is a turbo and that could have subtle differences.

I've gotta run by the yard anyway, so I'll see if they still have the '92 240 they had! If they do, I'll snag it for you.

Thanks everyone but I already ordered the new fuel rail. 130 bucks down the drain but its really too dangerous of an issue to risk. The solder kind of worked but for some reason it stopped holding after some time. It held strong for a little while. Maybe there was an error on my part. I am sure a junkyard rail would have been the cheaper and more reasonable option but as I said too dangerous to risk. So goodbye fuel leak and hello mpg's!
