Default Removing the fuse panel form a 740

Guys, need some help. I need to remove the fuse panel from behind the ashtray. I'm trying to trace a voltage/wire problem. Hoy do you remove the panelling in the radio cluster area. or even to get into the area under the dash. I might just go in and replace all the vacumm tubes back there. I think some of my doors arn't closing properly.

any way, how do you get the fuse panel out and loose?

I have a partial answer, you need to remove the fascia on the cigerette lighter and remove the two screws. you then can pop out the cubby hole and unlock the fuse panel and pull it forward. this will get you better access to the fuse panel. I still need to figure out how to get the radio out without breaking all the fascia pieces. I need to pull the panel out completely to look at the bottem

if it's like the sock radio in my 89 740T, the radio pulls straight out, tricky part is that there are 2 flat springs mounted left and right on top of the unit that push upwards, and tend to get stuck on the fascia as you pull out.

yeah, thanks i found out how. Only thing everyone tells it this way, so I was prying the outer covering away, with no results.

just so happens that there are three layers, the radio, the bin the radio fits in and then the center column material. I needed to get closer to the radio and pry that away from the radio.

After the radio comes out, there is one screw in the back and the radio bin comes out easy as pie. Now, its easy to unlatch the fuse panel (its on the left side) and pull it out.
