replacement radiator
Just came back from a 400 mile trip and had my radiator start leaking like crazy on the way back. Had to give it a quart ever 30 miles or so. Called up the local parts store and they gave me a 300 dollar quote for a new radiator. That seems a little excessive. Has anyone had any experience replacing a radiator on a Volvo 940? What price would be reasonable? How much would I expect to pay if I had a local mechanic replace it?
Your best bet for a cheap radiator is to go to the local junkyard. I got a perfect radiator out of a 240 Wagon and put it in my 740, and it worked perfectly. But as far as a 940 radiator goes, im clueless..
940 radiators change starting in 1992. Prior years are like the 740s, after '92 they are different. A new one is a bargain at $100-$150. Installation is easy-half an hour labor plus new coolant.
Ripped out the old one and man was that plastic bad. Tugged slightly on one of the hoses and a big chunk came away.
Now that i screwed that one for good, I'll have to pay for express delevery
I ordered one from rockauto like someone suggested. Pricing wasn't bad.

recieved my new readiator a few days ago and attempted to install it this afternoon. But there is a problem. The radiator I ordered has an extra hole. My guess is that it is for a "radiator fan switch" which my car doesn't have. The hole is at the top right of the radiator when looking at it from the back. Would my assumptions be right?
I just ordered a plug for it. I hope I'm not way off http://www.stopshopanddrive.com/item...opshopanddrive
