Default Rub/humming sound in front end

I have a 1989 244 DL. I was driving on the freeway the other day and noticed a kind of humming noise coming from the driver's side front end. It sounds kind of like the sound that is made when you blow air across the top of a bottle or maybe like a low note on a flute. I would hear it intermittently when going straight or turning right but if I turned the wheel left, it would go away. I've noticed it pretty much every day since at both lower speeds and higher speeds although it doesn't usually happen if the car is cold. It seems to start after I've been driving for 10 minutes or so. Any ideas? Could this be a wheel bearing? I've experienced failing wheel bearings on other kinds of cars but those didn't sound like this. I don't really feel any kind of vibration other than hearing the sound.
