On my '90 740Turbo, Ive found that when I first crank it, the Service engine light comes on for about 2 minutes, when it's on, the car takes off from a stop fine, runs great!
When it goes off, the car suddenly feels sluggish, runs poorly, will barely take off from a dead stop (acts like its in 2nd gear from a stop)...but once the engine is able to rev up to say 2500, it makes some boost and takes off fine.
If you slow down to 25 from 45, and go to accelerate, the engine wont rev until the trans downshifts to the next lower gear...
How do you read the engine comp. codes with the little box under the hood, and is there a list of what they mean?
