Default Seat Back adjustment **** help

Hi everyone.. I bought a 1993 245 for a parts car, but decided to ressurect it for a winter car/daily beater.

The driver's side seat back adjustment **** was broken off when I got the car leaving only the circular metal disc (Adj disc) attached to the square section on the adjustment shaft (see pic).

Diagrams were kinda' hard to find, but after looking around a bit I understand the plastic **** fits over that metal disc (Adj disc), then another metal disc (friction disc)with a perpherated center friction fits on the shaft to hold the plastic **** in place. Is that correct?

I could remove the assembly from my passenger seat to get a look and maybe measurements, but I was afraid of damaging the assembly during the removal process.

There were a couple of boxes of parts in the 245 when I got it and a new plastic **** and cover were inside, but not the friction disc.

Has anyone taken one of these assemblys apart? How fragile are they? Is there some secret for removing them? Does anyone have any measurements from the friction disc because it appears I'll have to make one.

Thanks!

There are two types depending on year.

I'm guessing this is the type you mention having a friction retainer.

This is likely what you need. I use a snap ring plier to rotate the retaining clip to release the **** -- much easier than the older kind.

Snake a pick or wire behind the **** to pop off the cover.
