I bought a 1986 Volvo 740 GLE 2 years ago and have had it in the shop for things i couldn't fix at my house. But I was driving this morning and was planning to drop off my friend at her house, odd thing was that when my Volvo (Vivan) warmed up she started to sputter horribly. Now i've noticed some sputtering after 3500-5000 rpms to get on the interstate but it wasn't major to me for the time being. Now, she sputters very violently and by that I mean that when i would stop she would either die or try to jerk the car forward. I tried to accelerate and she hesitated all the way up to 35. That's all i could get her up to. When she shifted into 4th gear i could back off the accelerator but the tach would read from 500 to 2500 rpms but it didn't sound like she was getting up that high. I'm really not sure what to do. I do routine maintenance and she was ok, 89 octane is her drink of choice, but this is very out of character for her. I pulled over to see under the hood and everything sounded like it should but when i tried to reach to the throttle it sounded like she was very hesitant and would not rev up.
