STALLING in Reverse ???
So I have a weird problem going on, the car seems to be working perfectly when I'm just going forward...however I'm having trouble when I just start the car--even after 2 minutes.
When I try to reverse, I would say recently 1/4 times the car stalls and cuts off, and the other times it seems to reverse weakly.
(The RPMs drop really low and then finally come to what I would describe as normal within 2 or 3 seconds)
I'm fairly certain the oil is good because it was replaced a few months ago, but it has reached the level where I need to get it changed soon. I'm wondering if this is a transmission problem or something else.

I have a 1984 volvo 240 turbo and have been experiencing an identical problem the last 6 months or so. It never seems to be a problem besides the annoying factor. I suppose the car is safe to drive until it does this in the middle of the freeway.
I have taken it to the mechanics and of course it will never stall for them however they replaced the fuel injection pump and it made no difference. let me know if you figure out your problem

i dont think this will really help you, but i had the same problem with my 1993 850, and it was something about shifting into reverse that was making the engine move a bit and that knocked the cam sensor wires apart, which killed the engine. Replacing the cam pisition senser was all that we needed to do to solve that.
