Starting problem with my 1985 740gle...
So I had a call from my fiance and she had some problems with starting the car this morning. And for the second try she managed to start it with alittle gas. She went in the house and let the car warm up for about 10 min and returned to turn on the radio and later the car idled really low and quit. This problem never occured to me at all in the past. We tried starting it up and couldn't get it started.
So I did some troubleshooting by checking the fuel pressure, cap and rotor, wires, coil and the hall sensor thingy that was mentioned by a previous thread. Coil and sensor was purchased at a junkyard and no results at all. My car has about 258k and it ran strong.
Can anyone help me and respond to dancemachine96819@yahoo.com. That would be much appreciated. Thanks.
P.S.
There was no spark from wireset and fuses were good in the car.

No spark means one of 4 problems (but make sure timing belt is fine first): bad Hall Sensor, bad Power Stage, bad ignition coil, or wiring to above. Go to www.stepbystepvolvo.com for free guide to 740 no-starts.
