Hello.

So I have this interesting situation here. I have an '84 242 Turbo. I came outside to get in my car, and I could hear a buzzing sound coming from the car, under the hood. I went to start the car, and it would turn over, but not start. The second time I tried starting it, it kept turning over even after I took the keys out! Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this?

as to the problem i have no idea...but my 83 242 turbo did the exact same thing one day and i kicked it in frustration and it hasnt done it since. (i kicked the left front tire). give it a shot...it might work hah. other than that i would look around for maybe a loose wire thats touching somthing it shouldnt or a relay thats sticking.

 

Sounds like the starter silinoid is hung (sorry for the spelling having a brain fart). I would dis connect the battery and reconnect and see what it does. If it continues pull the starter and hav it tested.

 

The wiring harness might be bad and shorting out.
