Tail light issue
The other day my left tail light went out, not the brake light, but the running light. These two use the same bulb. when I replaced the bulb I still had the same problem, the brake light working when I hit the brakes but not the regular tail light. I've tried two different bulbs and had the same problem. Anyone know what it might be?
If the other tail light is working, I would suspect the wire going into the tail light. I'm sure there is a separate wire for the brakes and the tail light. If you have a wiring diagram for your car, it will probably have the color of the wire.
the left and right tail light are on separate wires all teh way from behind the dashboard where the bulb-out sensor is. that said, the most likely source of a problem is the circuit board on the back of the light assembly, either where the wires plug onto it, or where the socket connects to it. clean the gold surfaces with a clean soft pink pencil eraser, and make sure the contacts on the bulb holder are clean.
